Nine men allegedly gang rape two women

As the diabolical trend of violence and atrocities against women and children continues across the country, nine unknown men allegedly took turns raping two women, a 22-year-old and 33-year-old in a water canal near the Baipei Ext. 6 informal settlement from around 02:30 on Saturday morning.
The Ikageng police have confirmed the incident and say that nine counts of rape are currently being investigated.
According to Const. Kelebogile Trom, the SAPS spokesperson, the two women were coming back from Ext. 7 after assisting people to get to a funeral when they encountered the men wearing hats and covering their faces with handkerchiefs. ‘Some of the weapons in their possession included a panga and wooden sticks,’ says Trom.
‘The assailants forced the women to go to the nearby water canal near the shacks and divided themselves into two groups.
They then took turns raping them. The 33-year-old was allegedly raped by five of the men and the other four raped the younger woman. The men fled when an unknown woman rescued the victims and called the police to the scene,’ Trom reported.
She added that the police will leave no stone unturned in their search for the perpetrators. Trom again warned community members to avoid walking alone at night or in the early hours of the morning because it is not safe.
