The North West Rural Dragons side has 28 unbeaten games behind them and is two trophies richer after an extremely successful Rural Cricket South Africa (RCSA) week in Mbombela, Mpumalanga from 22 to 26 February 2018.
The North West Rural Dragons were crowned as the national winners and the Inland Pool RCSA Winners.
‘What makes it special is that it is the first time since Cricket South Africa established Rural Cricket that a team has defended its title successfully in both the competitions,’ said Christo Gous, the chairperson and manager of North West Rural Cricket.
It was also a first for all the players to play two games of cricket in the Kruger National Park in Skukuza.
Some of the NW players received individual accolades for their stunning achievements during the tournament. Tsholofelo Phukuile was awarded the 2018 Player of the Tournament accolade.
The following members from North West Rural Dragons Cricket were selected for the Rural Cricket South Africa Team that will participate in the Future Cup in April 2018: Tsholofelo Phukuile (Ikageng CC) Player of the Tournament, Zithebele Nyembe (Impala CC), Jerome Xaba (Potch Dorp CC) and Marcus Fourie (Potch Dorp CC).
