The battle lines have been drawn ahead of the annual FNB Classic Clash between Technical High School Potchefstroom and Potchefstroom Boys’ High on Saturday, 19 May.
The battlefield will be the history-rich grounds of THS Potchefstroom, where rugby has played a massive part in its identity.
Thousands of players have worn the iconic white jersey of THS and the current first team will look to honour this in the best way possible with a win in front of their home crowd.

Conversely, Potchefstroom Boys High would like nothing better than to hold on to the Classic Clash trophy after reclaiming the title on home soil last year with a 26–12 victory.

Both teams are evenly matched on paper, where the big battle will be fought up front.
Whoever wins this battle will afford the speedy backs on either side the chance to run the opposition ragged.

THS will definitely count on their locks, Lwazi Gumedze and Tim Salusalu for inspiration up front. Both players will use their size to their advantage with Salusalu ready to make some bulldozing runs.
Boys’ High will look to their flanks, Keorapetse Masedi and Dirang Matheba to be menacing at ruck time and their speed may cause THS problems. T.K. Montsho and Ntlantla Myeko will need to be on high alert and it will be fascinating to see who comes up trumps in the battle of the loose trio.

THS had been sweating over the fitness of star flyhalf, Olebogeng Mosiane, but the talented left-footed number 10 is back to start just in time for the Classic Clash. Mosiane has the ability to put a ball on a string with his educated feet and his goal kicking accuracy could prove vital in a close game. THS vice-captain, Pitso Mosia will also be one of his school’s main attacking threats.

The backline of Potchefstroom Boys’ High has been functioning like a well-oiled machine this season and the likes of centre pairing of captain Kago Moleme and Uyanda Kunjwayo will be at the heartbeat of their attack.
THS will also need to keep a fine eye on speedy wings, Vuyo Sindwa and Katlego Magome who can create a try from nothing.

Expect a free-flowing, attacking match this Saturday, where the most composed side on the day will win the key battles and, ultimately, the Classic Clash war.
