Potchefstroomers ace Comrades with flying colours

The 2018 Comrades Marathon saw some of Potch’s finest perform in the gruelling, legendary run of 90.18 kilometres on Sunday, 10 June.
Jaco Barnard finished his tenth Comrades as the first Potchefstromer and athlete from Bert’s Bricks Athletics Club across the line in a time of 6:58.13. The first woman from Potchefstroom across the finish line was Deanné Horn from Nedbank Running Club in a time of 07:06:54, finishing in a brilliant 15th place. In total, 32 athletes from Bert’s Bricks Athletics Club finished the 2018 Comrades Marathon.

The well-known Potchefstromer, Chris Hattingh also finished his 16th Comrades at the remarkable age of 70, showing he has a lot of strength left in his experienced legs. Hattingh, who won his first medal in 1978, now has 7 silver, 7 bronze, 1 Bill Rowan and 1 Vic Clapham medal to his name.
